Unpopular Opinion: Disney is Better Than Marvel

I think Disney is better than Marvel because, in my opinion, Disney is more fun, while Marvel is boring for me. Disney offers a wider variety of content, with numerous movies and shows to choose from, unlike Marvel, which primarily focuses on action and superheroes.

Disney produces more content than Marvel. According to NBC News, “Disney will release no more than three Marvel films and up to two Disney+ shows each year as it works to place more focus on quality output.” Marvel is also a part of Disney. NBC News reports, “Disney also has Marvel content in the works for Disney, including projects related to Black Panther and Spider-Man, but no release date yet.” This means that Marvel operates under Disney, which owns the brand.

Additionally, DC and Marvel have been under Disney since 2009.

As reported, “Now, DC and Marvel, owned by Disney since 2009, are collaborating on a project that resurfaces material by both firms’ writers and artists. From 1976 to 2003, crossovers between the DC and Marvel universes (Superman vs. Incredible Hulk or Batman vs. Daredevil) were regular features as the companies sought to expand their markets. Yet, these comics went largely out of print in the 2000s as once-niche superheroes became billion-dollar movie stars.”

I think Disney is more popular because of the number of new releases it has every year. While Marvel also releases new content annually, Disney provides a greater variety of entertainment tailored to different audience preferences. Disney’s films are fun and engaging, often featuring beautifully composed music that enhances the viewing experience.

Furthermore, Marvel’s appeal tends to skew toward male audiences, whereas Disney offers content that is more inclusive. Marvel has also been losing popularity. As one report states, “The consumer’s appetite for originality in films has never been more pronounced. While Marvel movies consistently draw large audiences and generate significant profit, the demand for more diverse and intellectually stimulating content is noticeable, which explains why Marvel movies have been less appealing.”
